TECHNICAL PANEL – PLASTICS & PLASTIC RECYCLING

Maria studied physics and finished her PhD in polymer physics in 1993. After a Post-Doc on polymer rheology at UMASS in Amherst (Massachusetts), she started her professional career at DSM Research in Geleen, NL in 1995. A few years later, she moved to polypropylene product development working on water pipes and polyolefin based automotive compounds. After 2002, she worked for SABIC and moved 2006 to the business unit polypropylene as technical product manager for STAMAX (long glass PP). Maria spent several years in automotive marketing and decided to return to a research environment in 2010 starting new project portfolios amongst others related to advanced polymeric packaging solutions.

In 2015, Maria became Research Fellow at SABIC covering the areas of material science and application development and since 2020 she coordinates global technology efforts on circular economy.
