ROLE OF THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE

The PetroEnvironment Organizing Committee is made up of policy-makers, industry leaders and international experts.  Its role is:

  • To oversee and arrange all practical aspects of the event

  • To oversee sponsor and exhibitor participation

  • To propose and advise on event venue and associated social events

  • To provide general logistical advice and proposals

  • VIP invitation and protocol management

Alaa A. Elyas, Graduated on 1991 from King Abdulaziz University with Bs in Marine Chemistry Science. Worked for 5 years with Jeddah Islamic Port Authority as Safety inspector & Director of Vessels Clearance Office. 1996 joined Saudi Aramco Marine Department and spent 13 with Oil Spill Response team, on 2009 Joint Environmental Protection Department taken supervision role of Air Quality Unit, Marine Protection Unit, and Env. Tech. Support group. Currently he is the General Supervisor of the Land and Marine Protection Division.

Managing Director, AYM Events Ltd

Alain has 19 years experience in B2B conferences and exhibitions. He started his career in exhibition sales at the CWC Group in London where he looked after their Algeria focused oil and gas projects and their Saudi focused portfolio of energy events. (2004 to 2009)
He then broadened his scope through his own venture and had the opportunity to work on sixty prestigious and highly strategic projects such as: GCC Environment Forums 2010 to 2016, Saudi Safety and Security 2010 to 2016, KA.CARE forums on renewable energy 2011 to 2012, Saudi Downstream 2014 to 2016...
Since 2017, he has used his industry contacts and event experience to established AYM Events as a most trusted B2B event organiser now developing the PetroEnvironment event series and the ASIS Middle East Forum.

Hamed Al-Ghamdi

Environmental Scientist, Saudi Aramco

Hamed is a Professional Environmental Scientist currently working in Saudi Aramco’s Environmental Protection. He graduated from King Abdulaziz University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Sciences with an emphasis in Marine Geology. Hamed is focused on oceanography, instrumentation, field studies, database programming, GIS within Saudi Aramco including marine environmental studies in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea in support of Saudi Aramco’s environmental monitoring and protection programs, prepare and deploy oceanographic and related oceanographic instrumentation. Hamed is Certified as a lead auditor of Environmental Management Systems (EMS) (ISO 14001) and Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP). Hamed is interested in real-time coastal and offshore environmental integrated solutions, oceanography and machine learning knowledge and skills to be used to serve Saudi Aramco and the Kingdom.

Environmental Scientist, Saudi Aramco

Mousa is an environmental scientist working for Saudi Aramco, Environmental Protection for two years. He has earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia in 2014. He pursued his post-graduate studies in the U.S. earning his first masters qualification in Environmental Engineering from the Catholic University of America in 2016. He then pursued another masters degree in Environmental Science from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in 2018. His research and field experience is in the area of water desalination, treatment and conservation. He is working on minimizing projects’ fresh water consumption and maximizing wastewater reuse. He works on preservation and protection of natural habitats and reducing environmental impacts of anthropogenic activities on water resources.

Graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in Env. Engineer and engineering management as part of the Saudi Aramco Sponsorship in 2017. Over 3 years of work experience in the field of process engineering, climate change, air quality control & environmental sustainability.

Faisal Aljar
Faisal Aljar

Air Quality Engineer, Saudi Aramco

Faisal is a Professional Environmental Engineer (PE) currently working in Saudi Aramco’s Environmental Protection. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2015 with a B.S. in Environmental Engineering and a certificate in Engineering Management from Lockheed Martin. Faisal is focused on air quality and climate change issues within Saudi Aramco including greenhouse gasses, sulfur recovery, and environmental technologies. Faisal had assignments with Saudi Aramco’s R&DC Carbon Management division as a research engineer, and as a process engineer in Fadhili Gas Plant during the commissioning phase. Faisal is interested in deploying new environmental technologies and is currently building his capabilities in machine learning.
